Plot summary
Mary Baxter, 71, has four daughters who have been estranged for years. Austin, 29, a writer, has moved back home to care for her mother; Carolina, known as Carol, is a lawyer on track to become a judge; Dallas, 27, is married to Peter and in the middle of a divorce; and Baltimore, 21, is an eccentric college student. The four are half-sisters, each with a different father. Austin's father, Mort Stone, is Mary's best friend, and Austin's girlfriend is Sarah. When Mary is found in her bathtub, Austin calls the others home, and the sisters gather to face their mother's death.
