Plot summary
Veronica Ghent, an aging film star, travels with her young nurse, Desi Hatoum, to a healing retreat in the Scottish countryside to recover from a double mastectomy. Desi looks after her through the recovery, and the retreat stands on ground where women were burned as witches centuries before. Their ashes lie in the soil, and mysterious forces there give Veronica the power to act out her revenge in her dreams. The operation raises questions for her about her own existence, and the two women form an unlikely bond during the stay.
