Plot summary
At East High, Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez face their senior year and the prospect of being separated once college begins. Troy wants a basketball scholarship at the University of Albuquerque; Gabriella has her eye on Stanford University in California. Their friends Chad Danforth, Taylor McKessie and the rest of the Wildcats rehearse the spring musical, which Ms. Darbus calls Senior Year and builds around the graduating class's hopes and fears. Ms. Darbus also names the students in the running for a Juilliard scholarship: Sharpay Evans, her brother Ryan, Kelsi Nielsen and Troy. Sharpay, set on winning it, takes a British transfer student, Tiara Gold, under her wing.
