Tom Burke
Biography
Tom Burke is an English actor born in 1981 and raised in Kent. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and got his first role as Roland in Dragonheart: A New Beginning (2000). After drama school, he appeared as Syd in the thriller series State of Play. On television, he played Athos in The Musketeers from 2014 to 2016, Dolokhov in War & Peace, and Cormoran Strike in Strike. His film work includes The Libertine (2004), Donkey Punch (2008), Telstar: The Joe Meek Story (2008), Cheri (2009), Third Star (2010), Cleanskin (2012), Only God Forgives (2013), The Invisible Woman (2013), Mank (2020), and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024). On stage, he worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, played Romeo at Shakespeare's Globe in 2004, and earned an Ian Charleson Award for Creditors.

A role that slipped away
In November 2021, Burke joined Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the Mad Max: Fury Road spinoff. He replaced Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who had dropped out because of scheduling conflicts.
First role
After finishing drama school, Burke landed his first television role as Syd in State of Play, a thriller series written by Paul Abbott that starred John Simm, Bill Nighy and James McAvoy.
