Biography

Susan Hogan is a Canadian actress of film, television and stage whose career began after she was cast as Abigail in a high school production of The Crucible. She trained at the National Theatre School of Canada from 1966 and then worked in Toronto theater and at the Stratford Festival, where she was often typecast in ingenue roles until she drew wider notice as Stas in a 1978 staging of Pam Gems's Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi. The Globe and Mail critic Bryan Johnson named her one of the year's best actresses in 1979. On screen she played Elizabeth in the CBC miniseries Vanderberg, appeared as Nicole in Night Heat, and was cast in Narrow Margin (1990); her most noted film role was Marlene in Bordertown Café. Her later television work includes Family Passions, and she played Regan in a gender-reversed King Lear. She has received a Jessie Richardson Theatre Award nomination and three Leo Award nominations.
