Plot summary
Joy Holbrook works as a market researcher in Washington, DC, and her firm's CEO has taken notice of her, with a promotion in reach as the holidays approach. Then a phone call from home sends her back to Crystal Falls, North Carolina: her Aunt Ruby has broken an ankle and faces surgery. Joy takes a leave from work to run the family farm and help Ruby, and she volunteers for Ruby's place with the Cookie Crawl, the town's baking competition, so Ruby can concentrate on healing. Ben Andrews, the town accountant and Joy's former crush, offers to co-captain the event. Joy turns him down.
