Susan Cabot
Biography
Susan Cabot was an American actress who worked in film, stage and television, beginning with a small part in the film noir Kiss of Death (1947). Born in Boston in 1927, she was spotted performing by a talent scout and later signed with Universal Pictures; her first film for the studio was the Western Tomahawk (1951). She became known for Westerns and Arabian-themed adventures, among them The Battle at Apache Pass (1952), The Duel at Silver Creek (1952) and Gunsmoke (1953). Cabot left Universal in the mid-1950s to return to New York theater and studied acting with Sanford Meisner. She later appeared in several Roger Corman productions, including Sorority Girl (1957), War of the Satellites (1958) and Machine-Gun Kelly (1958), and gave her final film performance in Corman's horror film The Wasp Woman (1959). She died in 1986.

Early training
Unhappy with the film roles she was offered, Cabot requested release from her contract in 1954. She went back to New York, studied acting with Sanford Meisner, and resumed stage work, including a Boston run of the musical Shangri-La in 1959.
First role
Cabot's first screen work was a bit part as a restaurant patron in the Twentieth Century Fox film noir Kiss of Death, shot in New York in 1947.
Big break
A Columbia Pictures talent scout saw Cabot performing at the Village Barn and gave her a part in On the Isle of Samoa in 1950. That role brought more Hollywood work and a contract with Universal Pictures.
