Rossy de Palma
Biography
Rossy de Palma is a Spanish actor and model whose career took shape through her long association with Pedro Almodóvar. She was born in Palma de Mallorca and moved to Madrid in the 1980s, and in 1984 she started and sang with a pop group. She met Almodóvar in a Madrid café in 1986, and after seeing her perform at a concert he offered her a part in Law of Desire (1987); her first leading role came in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (1988). She became one of his regular collaborators, appearing in Kika (1993), The Flower of My Secret, Julieta (2016) and Parallel Mothers (2021). Alongside that work she modeled for Jean-Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler and Sybilla, appeared in Robert Altman's Ready to Wear (1994), and took a seat on the main competition jury at Cannes in 2015.
