Plot summary
Kika, a cosmetologist, once gave her phone number to Nicholas, an American writer, expecting a different kind of call; he wants her instead to work on the body of his stepson Ramón, who is only catatonic and comes back to life when she works on him. She moves into his flat in Madrid. Ramón is a fashion photographer, and his mother's suicide has left him troubled; he lets Nicholas, back in the city, live in the apartment above, and the two discuss the family house they share outside town. Ramón proposes to Kika and she accepts, though she has been sleeping with Nicholas. Nicholas is writing a novel about a lesbian serial killer and earns money freelancing for a tabloid television show presented by Andrea Caracortada, once Ramón's psychologist and lover.
