Roger Yuan
Biography
Roger Yuan is an American fight choreographer, stunt performer, actor and martial artist. Born in Carbondale, Illinois, he picked up karate and judo on his own from manuals, started formal training in Kyokushin Karate at 17, and later studied Chun Kuk Do at Chuck Norris's United Fighting Arts Federation, reaching a fourth dan black belt. His first stunt double work came in the 1986 film House, and his first professional acting job was in The Perfect Weapon (1991), with his first credited role arriving in Red Corner (1997) opposite Richard Gere. He played the corrupt Imperial Guard Lo Fong, the main antagonist of Shanghai Noon (2000), and took the part of Chow Yun-fat's master in Bulletproof Monk (2003). He has done stunts for more than 40 films, among them Dune and Dune: Part Two (2024), and appeared in television series such as Walker Texas Ranger.

Yuan played the main antagonist Lo Fong in the 2000 Western action-comedy Shanghai Noon alongside Jackie Chan, a role that helped him become popular with audiences.

Yuan trained Jennifer Lawrence and Jason Flemyng for X-Men: First Class and Henry Cavill for Immortals in 2011, and also trained Keanu Reeves for 47 Ronin.

Besides his film work, Yuan was asked by Tim McGraw, a country singer, to help him get into shape for the 2012 Brothers of the Sun Tour.
