Plot summary
Princess Irulan records in her journal that her father, the Padishah Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV, betrayed House Atreides. After House Harkonnen's victory, a Fremen tribe under Stilgar travels with Paul Atreides and his pregnant mother, Lady Jessica, to Sietch Tabr. Some of the tribe suspect the two are spies, while Stilgar and others take their arrival as the fulfillment of a prophecy that outsiders will bring prosperity to Arrakis. Stilgar gives Jessica the task of replacing Sietch Tabr's dying Reverend Mother, and she drinks the Water of Life, surviving its normally fatal effect through her Bene Gesserit training. The rite also wakes Alia, the daughter Jessica carries, letting the two speak. Chani, a Fremen, doubts the prophecy.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Dune: Part Two (2024)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The opening sequence, in which Harkonnen troops ambush Paul and Lady Jessica, had to be filmed in twelve locations because no single site could convey its aesthetics. Some of the shoot coincided with a partial solar eclipse on October 25, 2022, which the filmmakers used as a backdrop.
- To create the black-and-white look of the Harkonnen home world Giedi Prime, Denis Villeneuve and cinematographer Greig Fraser replaced the cameras' standard infrared cut-off filters with 87C filters, blocking light visible to the human eye to produce a desaturated infrared image.
- Anya Taylor-Joy met with Denis Villeneuve for a different part in Dune: Part Two, and her obligations to Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga nearly caused a scheduling conflict; Villeneuve struck a deal with the studios so she could take the smaller role of Alia, which producers kept secret until the London premiere in February 2024.
- Austin Butler was signed as Feyd-Rautha without an audition, having just finished filming Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, and modeled the character's speaking voice on Stellan Skarsgård's Baron, training in knife-fighting and a four-month fitness regimen.
- The two-day pre-shoot at the Brion tomb in Altivole, Italy, doubled for the imperial court in scenes with Princess Irulan and Emperor Shaddam, after filmmakers scouted gardens in Florence and Rome.
- For Paul's sandworm ride, a small crew led by producer Tanya Lapointe built a cylindrical soundstage set with a sand-colored chroma key surface and a worm skin platform on a motion base, while an industrial fan blasted up to a ton of dust per day to emulate dust clouds.
- By the time the first Dune was in theaters, Hans Zimmer had written 90 minutes of music. The finished score has no orchestra and grows out of his earlier Dune work with a dissonant, ambient sound.
- Denis Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and nonprofit executive Josée Gagnon arranged a private screening of Dune: Part Two at a palliative care facility in Quebec for a terminally ill resident they had corresponded with. Attendees had to put away phones and sign non-disclosure agreements.
