Plot summary
Miranda Green works as a private detective, and in 1934 she leaves England for Egypt. A murder has been carried out in the British Embassy in Cairo, a place treated as inviolable, and a top secret document was taken from there on the same night. The consequences of the theft reach Buckingham Palace and threaten world peace. Because the embassy was closed at the time, suspicion falls on everybody who was present, among them an American photographer, an English student, an American actress, an Egyptian security guard, the ambassador's interpreter, an Egyptian gardener and the Ambassador. Miranda has to work out who killed and who took the document.
