Biography
Orlando Jones is an American actor and stand-up comedian who built his career across sketch comedy, commercials and screen roles. He moved to South Carolina as a teenager and got his start in Hollywood as a writer, contributing to the NBC comedy A Different World in 1987 and later to Roc, and he co-produced The Sinbad Show in 1993. In 1994 he joined MADtv as one of its original cast members, became known for his characters and impressions, and left after two seasons to pursue movies. He gained wide recognition as the 7 Up spokesman between 1999 and 2002, hosted his own FX late night show, and later portrayed the African god Anansi on American Gods from 2016 to 2019. On screen he appeared in Barry Levinson's Liberty Heights (1999) and Harold Ramis's Bedazzled (2000), played Clifford Franklin in The Replacements (2000), took the lead in Double Take (2001) and appeared in Drumline (2002).
