Plot summary
A plane carrying fifty pounds of heroin crashes near the US-Canada border, and a gang led by Xander takes the coordinates of the wreck from the officers sent to search for it. The site is a lake just off King's Island, where Henry Taylor, a former Navy SEAL, works as a forest ranger and shares the island with Sanderson, an elderly hermit. Out on patrol, Henry gives a hand to Kayla, who invites him to dinner that night. Clay knocks at Henry's door claiming he has lost his boat, then pulls a gun and blames Henry for the death of Decker, his younger brother, a SEAL killed under Henry's command. Xander and his men arrive posing as ICE agents, and Henry, who sees through the ruse, warns Clay.

- Van Damme was initially going to play the main protagonist, but Hyams asked him to switch to the part of drug trafficker Xander, having already directed him twice in heroic roles; Van Damme was not easily convinced and demanded the new role be fleshed out to differentiate it from Jean Vilain in The Expendables 2.
- With the film set in the wilderness, Xander was expanded into a staunch ecologist and vegan, and Van Damme personally devised the Édith the Goose monologue that appears midway into the film. The character's distinctive wild hair was also the actor's idea.
