Nicholas Campbell
Biography
Nicholas Campbell is a Canadian actor and filmmaker. Born in Toronto and brought up in Montreal, he studied drama at Queen's University before training in England at Drama Studio London and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, then started out in Britain with the York Theatre Royal Repertory Company. His first film role came in The Omen, and he later appeared in The Eagle Has Landed, The Spy Who Loved Me and A Bridge Too Far. He returned to Canada in 1979 and became a four-time Gemini Award winner, known for playing coroner Dominic Da Vinci in Da Vinci's Inquest and its spin-off Da Vinci's City Hall; he also directed episodes of that series. His films include Fast Company (1979), The Brood (1979), The Dead Zone (1983), Certain Fury (1985), Naked Lunch (1991), New Waterford Girl (1999), Prozac Nation (2001), Cinderella Man (2005) and Goon (2011). He wrote and directed the documentary Stepping Razor: Red X.

Behind the camera
The 1992 documentary Stepping Razor: Red X was written and directed by Campbell. It received a Genie Award nomination for Best Feature Length Documentary at the 14th Genie Awards.

Campbell's acting career began in the United Kingdom, where he toured the country for 40 weeks with the York Theatre Royal Repertory Company.
Early training
Campbell studied for five years at Drama Studio London and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after switching from Political Studies to English and Drama at Queen's University.
Behind the camera
Campbell also directed several episodes of Da Vinci's Inquest. In 2003, the Directors Guild of Canada nominated him for its team drama award.
