Plot summary

To fund her music and the other creative projects she is working on, Darren needs money she does not have, and her rent has come due. She signs up for a service that pairs older men with money with younger women. Her bonds with the people around her fray: with the roommate she lives with, with her sister, and for a while with her mother. She and her friends argue about paid dating, prostitution and wealthier partners. The dates themselves do not put her in serious physical danger. A music producer she knows, Angus, sends her to a seedy studio to record vocals for an unnamed rap artist, and Nancy, who heads the label, rejects her.
