Biography

Nayanthara is an actress who started in Malayalam cinema and went on to work in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada films. Born in Bangalore, Karnataka, in 1985, she attended schools in several places, including Chennai, Jamnagar, Delhi, and Gujarat. In 2003, while she was still studying, director Sathyan Anthikkad noticed her and gave her a role in a Malayalam film. Two years afterward, she began appearing in Tamil and Telugu productions. As her popularity increased, she also took parts in Kannada-language movies. She developed a reputation for starring opposite male actors who were almost twice her age, among them Jayaram in her first Malayalam film and Rajnikanth in Chandramukhi. She also acted with Sarath Kumar, Mohanlal, and Mammotty. She was later cast in the directorial debut of Simbu, who also had the lead role.
