Plot summary
A nurse and an elderly woman who has lost her own stillborn grandchild swap one of a poor mother's newborn twins for the dead infant. The boys grow up apart. Narasimha, raised in a rough neighborhood, becomes a fearless undercover agent for the police and hopes to be an officer; he loves a senior police officer's daughter. Chari, brought up in a traditional Brahmin family, serves without pay as a priest under his guru Bhattacharya, who supports Chandrakala and her mother and expects to marry her, and who asks Chari to help him win her over. A terrorist group led by Dhanraj hunts an army scientist, the twins' biological father, and kidnaps Narasimha to force the scientist to cooperate. Finding Chari instead, the gang offers him money to pose as the missing man.
