Linda Hunt
Biography
Linda Hunt is an American actress who began her career in theater before moving into film and television. Born in Morristown, New Jersey, she trained at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Goodman School of Drama. She made her Broadway debut in a 1975 revival of Ah, Wilderness and received a Tony Award nomination for End of the World. Her film debut was Popeye (1980), and her role as Billy Kwan, a male character, in The Year of Living Dangerously (1982) earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress; she became the first performer to win an Oscar for playing a person of a different sex. Her other films include Dune (1984), Silverado (1985), Kindergarten Cop (1990), Pocahontas (1995), and Stranger Than Fiction (2006). On television she played Judge Zoey Hiller on The Practice and Henrietta Lange on NCIS: Los Angeles, winning two Teen Choice Awards, and she narrated the God of War video games.
