Plot summary
Graduation arrives and Michael Corben, who has spent his time partying instead of attending French class, still needs one credit to finish high school. His last chance is the summer session in France run by his teacher Mrs. Grober, and he travels with the French Club. At the airport a CIA agent who shares his name is on his way to France too, and because the details of that agent's identity were kept secret, including his age, British Intelligence takes Michael for him. Michael accepts the role once he learns he will be given equipment such as eyeglasses that see through walls, gum that detonates, sneakers with suction cups and a Lotus Esprit, and his task is to protect Augustus Steranko, whose henchmen include Zigesfeld and Areola Canasta.

- Fred Dekker, credited only for the story, later said the finished film was not at all what he envisioned, partly because the filmmakers cast a "cool" guy to play the nerdy lead, which he said defeated the comedy.
