John Crawford
Biography
John Crawford was an American actor who began in bit parts in films during the 1940s after studying at the University of Washington's School of Drama. Born in Colfax, Washington, he moved into leads in British films in the late 1950s and early 1960s, playing the antagonist in Hammer's Hell Is a City opposite Stanley Baker, and appeared in Danger Man. Back in the United States he worked steadily in character roles on television, most notably as Sheriff Ep Bridges on The Waltons, and in scores of series. His film credits included Night Moves (1975), The Enforcer (1976), The Poseidon Adventure (1972), I Saw What You Did (1965), and The Boogens (1981). He also co-wrote the screenplay for Sam Peckinpah's The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970). He died in 2010.
