Joel Fluellen
Biography
Joel Fluellen was an actor whose career began with a series of small roles before he gained attention as Jackie Robinson's brother in The Jackie Robinson Story (1950). Born in Monroe in 1907, he went on to substantial parts in Friendly Persuasion (1956), The Learning Tree (1969), and The Great White Hope (1970). His many other film credits included Sitting Bull (1954), Monster from Green Hell (1957), A Raisin in the Sun (1961), Roustabout (1964), Skin Game (1971), and Butch and Sundance: The Early Days (1979). He also worked in television, with appearances in series such as The Dick Van Dyke Show and Hill Street Blues. Joel Fluellen died in 1990.
