Plot summary
Dr. Quent Brady and Dan Morgan, both scientists, oversee a program that launches animals and insects into space to see how they fare. One rocket, carrying wasps, malfunctions, and a computer puts its likely landing place off the coast of Africa. Elsewhere in Africa, Lorna Lorentz and her father, Dr. Lorentz, perform an autopsy on a man who died after a huge dose of venom entered his body, and their assistant Arobi tells them that people and animals in a region named Green Hell are said to be stalked by a monster. Months later, Brady reads a newspaper report of giant creatures causing havoc in Central Africa, and he and Morgan take leave from Washington to investigate.

- Special-effects artist Paul Blaisdell said he only submitted pen-and-ink sketches of giant insects to Zimbalist while Monster from Green Hell was in its planning stages, hoping to be hired, and that Zimbalist never returned his calls or his sketches, even after Blaisdell's agent Forrest J. Ackerman telephoned.
- The giant wasps of Monster from Green Hell were the model for 'Horrible Hamilton', the largest mechanical bug in Remco's Hamilton Invaders toy line, while another toy in that line, 'The Spooky Spider', was based on the giant ants of the 1954 film Them!
- The wild-animal safari footage in Monster from Green Hell was not shot for it: it is stock footage taken from the 1939 film Stanley and Livingstone.
