Biography
Jessica Rothe is an American actress who began her career under her birth name, Jessica Rothenberg, in independent films and on stage. Her stage debut came in 2011 in The Dream of the Burning Boy, a performance The New York Times called impressive, and in 2015 she took leading parts in Lily & Kat, the crime drama The Preppie Connection and Parallels, a science fiction pilot made for Netflix. Her breakthrough came as Tree Gelbman in the horror film Happy Death Day (2017), which she reprised in Happy Death Day 2U (2019) and which earned her Fright Meter Award nominations and established her as a scream queen. Her films include the musical La La Land (2016), Forever My Girl (2018), Valley Girl (2020), All My Life (2020) and Body Brokers (2021). On television she led the MTV comedy Mary + Jane and appeared in the Amazon series Utopia, and she later joined Boy Kills World (2024).

Rothe went to Boston University and earned a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 2009. While she was there, she picked up violin, tap dancing and pottery.

In 2016, Rothe landed her first lead part in a TV series, playing Paige on the MTV comedy Mary + Jane. Snoop Dogg produced the show, described as a weed comedy, and it lasted one season.
