Plot summary
Raúl runs a riverboat up the Curuçá River with doctors Miguel, Alli and Callum aboard, carrying medical aid to villages along the water. His adopted daughter Lena works as the boat's mechanic, and she has her own reason for the trip: her brother Jorge left to document illegal mining and has not come back. At one village the group meets a survey team led by Brennan and Shawn Malloy, who are scouting the jungle for possible road development, an assignment that angers Alli. The boat continues upriver, toward remote settlements and a jungle where a giant mythical serpent is said to dwell.
