Plot summary
Wendy, a young woman with autism, lives in a group home where Scottie keeps an eye on her, and she spends her days writing a 427-page Star Trek script for Paramount Pictures' screenwriting contest and its $100,000 prize. Her sister Audrey visits with photos of her baby, Ruby, and says she is selling the childhood home. Wendy asks to return there, arguing that winning the contest would let her buy the house back and help care for Ruby, but Audrey says she cannot care for a baby. Wendy has a meltdown. When she misses the mail-in deadline, Wendy decides to deliver the script in person, slipping out of the group home early the next morning with Pete, the home's small dog, following.
