Jeremy Swift
Biography
Jeremy Swift is an English actor who trained at the Guildford School of Acting, studying drama there between 1978 and 1981, and worked almost entirely in theater through the 1980s with companies such as Deborah Warner's Kick Theatre and the comedy performance-art group The People Show. In the 1990s he appeared at the National Theatre in Phyllida Lloyd's production of What the Butler Saw. He later moved into film and television, playing the footman Arthur in Gosford Park, Mr. Bumble in Oliver Twist (2005), Gooding in Mary Poppins Returns (2018) and the lead in the comedy Downhill (2014). His television work includes Septimus Spratt in Downton Abbey and Dennis in The Durrells, and his role as Leslie Higgins in Ted Lasso brought a Primetime Emmy nomination in 2021. He is also a composer.
