Plot summary
The princess Snow White is born to a benevolent king and queen and named for the snowstorm on the day of her birth. Her mother dies, and the king remarries. Before he leaves to face a threat his new wife has warned him of, he gives Snow White a necklace. He never returns, and the Queen, an enchantress obsessed with her own beauty, forces her subjects into poverty and sets her stepdaughter to work as a scullery maid in the palace. Years later Snow White frees Jonathan, a bandit leader caught stealing by the Huntsman, and the Magic Mirror names her the fairest. The Queen orders the Huntsman to kill her, but he warns her instead, and Snow White flees into the forest, where woodland animals lead her to a cottage and the seven magical beings who live there.
