Harry Melling
Biography
Harry Melling is an English actor who began performing as a child and became known for his portrayal of Dudley Dursley, Harry Potter's cousin, across five of the Harry Potter films from 1999 to 2010, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010). He studied at London's Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and appeared in stage productions such as Antigone, King John, Plenty and The Provoked Wife, later starring in a 2009 Royal National Theatre revival of Mother Courage and Her Children. In 2014 he made his playwriting debut with the one-man show Peddling. His screen work includes the Coen brothers' The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018), The Devil All the Time (2020), the miniseries The Queen's Gambit, The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021), and Pillion (2025); in 2022 he took his first leading film part, playing a young Edgar Allan Poe, in The Pale Blue Eye.
