Plot summary
Colin lives with his parents in Bromley and spends his working days assigning parking tickets, singing barbershop quartet as a hobby. One night at the pub, Ray, an American who rides with a local biker club, slips him a note. The two meet on Christmas Day in an alleyway, and afterward Colin suggests another meeting, but Ray answers that he is rarely in the area. When Ray calls at last, he collects Colin from home on a motorbike, meets his parents and drives him to his house, where Colin is initiated into a strict dominant and submissive arrangement: Colin keeps house, sleeps on the floor by Ray's bed and obeys every command, and in return they have an intense sexual relationship in which they never kiss. Colin's parents worry about how little he knows about Ray.
