Biography

Ben Daniels is an English actor who began in theater and later worked in film and television. Born in Nuneaton in 1964, he trained at LAMDA. His stage work brought Olivier and Evening Standard Award nominations, and in 2001 he won the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor for All My Sons. He made his Broadway debut in 2008 in Les Liaisons Dangereuses and was nominated for a Tony Award for that performance. His screen credits include Beautiful Thing (1996), Madeline (1998), Conspiracy (2001), Doom (2005), and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016). On television he appeared in Cutting It, The Virgin Queen, Law & Order: UK, House of Cards, The Exorcist, The Crown, Jupiter's Legacy, and Foundation. He also played Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert (2018).

Daniels turned down roles in the 2000 films The Patriot and Vertical Limit, saying the money was good but the parts were not for him.
