Plot summary
Israel is at war with the Philistines, and the prophet Samuel keeps watch over David, a young Israelite shepherd whom God has chosen to help his people. The Philistines have their champion, the giant Goliath, and David goes out to face him. David defeats the giant, and the shepherd boy chosen to be king becomes the second king of Israel. His reign brings victories along with great scandal and shocking betrayals.
