Alice Braga
Biography
Alice Braga is a Brazilian actress and producer who entered the industry through school plays and commercials before her first screen role in the short film Trampolim. Born in São Paulo, she came from a family of actresses and made her breakthrough as Angélica in the crime film City of God (2002), which brought a Cinema Brazil Grand Prize nomination for best supporting actress. She gained wider recognition opposite Will Smith in I Am Legend (2007). Later she appeared in Blindness (2008). She took a role in Redbelt the same year. She then starred in Predators (2010). She also appeared in Elysium (2013). She appeared in The New Mutants (2020). On television, she played Teresa Mendoza in Queen of the South from 2016 to 2021, her first lead American television role, and she has also worked as a producer.
