Plot summary
Rosso and his son Paul, exiled Americans, run a brothel in São Paulo, Brazil. Paul is a compulsive gambler and a cocaine addict, and Rosso is married to Angie, a former prostitute, with whom he has a young son. When a Russian client is killed in the establishment by his wife, a suitcase of drugs is left behind. On the night set for selling its contents to African buyers, the go-between dies during sex with a trans woman called Nazda. Rosso turns to Wemba, the brothel's Nigerian dishwasher, who is to go to the harbor at Santos in the go-between's place and close the sale with the drug dealers. He is promised a large sum in return, and he accepts.
