Plot summary
Five surgeons who trained together reunite for a weekend in the deep woods of Northern Ontario, flown in and left at a lake. Harry, a neurologist, keeps company with Mitzi, Martin, Martin's brother D.J., and Abel. Around the campfire they drink and argue over whose specialty demands more, talk that turns to malpractice and to patients they have mocked. By morning, each man's boots have been taken. D.J. sets off alone for a hydro dam marked on his map, hoping to find someone there. That night Mitzi finds a severed deer's head hung before the camp with a snake coiled around its spine, and the others blame D.J.
