Plot summary
Jerry has settled on Seal Island with Millie, his new wife, and their two sons, along with the family's German Shepherd, Riley. When Riley chases a rabbit into the trees, something attacks him, and Jerry finds that a feral dog was responsible. He asks the other residents, among them the hermit Mr. McMinnimee, to watch for the animal and kill it. The dogs are discarded pets left behind by vacationers, now running together behind a big golden-haired mongrel. McMinnimee lives alone in a cabin with his German Shepherd Zsa Zsa. Millie finds the mongrel near the poultry yard and takes refuge in her car until Jerry drives the dogs off. The Dodge family has just arrived on the island, and Tommy and the cook Lois set out for a walk.
