- Brennin Hunt, who plays Roger, broke his foot during the Saturday dress rehearsal on January 26, 2019, so Fox aired the show using both pre-recorded and live footage; the next night Hunt performed in a wheelchair.
- Though billed as live, the telecast was almost entirely the previous night's prerecorded dress rehearsal. Only the last 15 minutes, covering "Finale", "Your Eyes" and "Finale B", aired live, plus an encore of "Seasons of Love" with the original 1996 Broadway cast.
- A technical fault at New York City's Fox flagship station WNYW and its fiber connection to cable providers Optimum and Spectrum made those viewers miss the first five minutes, including all or part of "Tune Up #1", "Voice Mail #1", "Tune Up #2" and "Rent".
- The telecast drew a 1.4 rating among adults 18 to 49 and 3.42 million total viewers, making it the lowest-rated live musical broadcast as of its airdate.
- To fit the run time, several numbers, notably the various "Voice Mails", "Christmas Bells" and "Finale A", were shortened, while "Seasons of Love B" was cut from the broadcast entirely.
