Idina Menzel
Biography
Idina Menzel is an American singer, actress and songwriter who built her reputation in the theater before moving into film, television and music. Born in Manhattan, she studied drama at New York University. Her first professional stage job came in 1996 as Maureen Johnson in the rock musical Rent on Broadway, earning a Tony nomination. In 2003 she took on Elphaba in Wicked and won the 2004 Tony for best actress in a musical; she later played the part again in London's West End. She reprised Maureen in Rent (2005), appeared in Enchanted (2007), and played Shelby Corcoran on Glee from 2010 to 2013. Her voice work as Elsa in Frozen (2013) and Frozen II (2019) brought her a far wider audience, and Let It Go, a song she recorded, took the Academy Award in the best original song category. She has also appeared in Uncut Gems (2019) and Cinderella (2021), and has released seven studio albums.
