Plot summary
More than two thousand years ago, Roman general Mark Antony gave Egyptian queen Cleopatra three jeweled eggs to mark their wedding. In 1907 a farmer recovered two of them; the third was never found. FBI profiler John Hartley and Interpol agent Urvashi Das investigate the theft of one egg from the Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome, and Hartley works out that the egg on display is a counterfeit. The thief, Nolan Booth, escapes, but days later Hartley and Das arrest him at his home in Bali. Das blames Hartley for the theft and has him locked in a remote Russian prison alongside Booth. There the rival thief Sarah Black, known as The Bishop, offers Booth a partnership to hunt the missing egg, and Hartley proposes one of his own.
