Plot summary
During the 1870s, Chinese laborers built the American railroads, working long hours at a job where the labor was often dangerous and fatal, in a country that gave people of color no legal rights and allowed them to be bought and sold. Sing is a Chinese immigrant in that America. A white woman is murdered, and the blame falls on him. Hunted, he goes on the run. In this West, stealing a horse is a hanging offense, while the killing of a Chinese man is not treated as a crime. To clear himself, Sing must prove that he did not do it.
