Plot summary
Annie Garrett has become a mountaineer, and she holds her brother Peter responsible for their father's death on a climb three years earlier. She comes to K2 base camp for a summit attempt backed by the billionaire Elliot Vaughn, with Tom McLaren leading the team. On the eve of the climb, Vaughn holds a party, where the respected climber Montgomery Wick criticizes him. Bad weather closes in as the group climbs, and although McLaren argues for turning back, Vaughn pushes on. An avalanche leaves Annie, Vaughn and McLaren stranded in a crevasse, with radio contact lost. Peter gathers a rescue party of climbers, among them Wick and Monique, the base camp nurse, and they carry canisters of explosive nitroglycerine to reach the survivors.
