Plot summary
Henry Turner sails out to the cursed Flying Dutchman, where his father Will remains bound as its captain, and vows to free him with the Trident of Poseidon. Nine years later Henry, a sailor in the British Royal Navy, is taken prisoner aboard his own ship when the ghost crew of Captain Salazar boards it, and Salazar lets him live only to carry a message to Jack Sparrow. On Saint Martin, Carina Smyth, an astronomer jailed for witchcraft, escapes and offers Henry the diary that points to the Trident. Jack, meanwhile, has lost his crew's faith after a botched bank robbery, and trading his compass for rum frees Salazar from the Devil's Triangle.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Australia's biosecurity laws complicated the use of the capuchin monkeys that play Hector Barbossa's pet monkey Jack, since the animals count as a category 1 pest and face a 30-day quarantine; one of them wandered off set at Movie World and bit the ear of a make-up artist on another production.
- Johnny Depp was injured off set on March 10, 2015 and had to be flown to the United States for surgery, which stalled filming completely and forced 200 crew members to stand down for two weeks until he returned on April 21.
- The film shot exclusively in Australia after the government agreed to repurpose $20 million of tax incentives originally intended for the remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, edging out Mexico and South Africa as filming locations.
- Terry Rossio's script for the fifth Pirates film was discarded in 2012, and the writer said a major reason was its use of a female villain, which left Johnny Depp worried that the film would be redundant to Dark Shadows.
