Trailer

Plot summary

Zeus and his brothers divided the world after their victory over the Titans, leaving Hades to rule the Underworld. Human worship keeps the gods immortal, but the soldiers of Argos tear down the statue of Zeus and declare war on them. Hades interrupts the city's celebration and demands that Princess Andromeda be sacrificed to the Kraken within ten days, or Argos will be destroyed. Perseus, a demigod raised by the fisherman Spyros, lost his adoptive family to Hades, and he joins the King's Guard led by Draco on a journey to find a way to defeat the monster. Io, a woman cursed with agelessness, accompanies him, and Zeus offers his son a sword forged on Olympus that Perseus refuses.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Clash of the Titans (2010)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • Emma Thompson nearly made an accidental uncredited cameo: filming Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang in an adjacent studio, she visited her friend Liam Neeson just as he was about to shoot with Ralph Fiennes and Danny Huston, and could not leave in time, so she hid behind Huston's throne in her clumsy costume.
  • Zeus's trailer line "Release the Kraken!" became an internet meme and one of Time magazine's top ten buzzwords of the year, and later took on new life among Donald Trump supporters as shorthand for the unfounded claim of voter fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.
  • Sam Worthington skipped sandals entirely for his role as Perseus, instead painting toes onto his sports shoes so he could still perform the film's stunts properly.
  • Director Louis Leterrier, a fan of Masami Kurumada's manga Saint Seiya, based the gods' armor design in the film on it as a tribute, and even had Kurumada himself asked to collaborate with the production on the film's poster art.
  • Clash of the Titans held the record for the highest April opening weekend for a Warner Bros. film until 2025, when A Minecraft Movie surpassed it.
