Plot summary
Kull is a barbarian from Atlantis who fights for a place in Valusia's Dragon Legion, only to be told by General Taligaro that a legion of noble blood will never take him. When King Borna turns on his heirs, Kull rides to the capital and mortally wounds him; with his last breath Borna names the outsider his successor, to the dismay of the assembled nobles. Among the women of the royal harem Kull recognizes Zareta, a fortuneteller he once met, who foretold that he would wear a crown. She reads her cards for him and says the fate of the kingdom will depend on a kiss. Taligaro and his cousin try to kill Kull at his coronation and fail; the night after, the necromancer Enaros offers to bring back Akivasha, a witch queen from an empire older than Valusia.

- The film was originally intended to be the third Conan film, Conan the Conqueror, but Arnold Schwarzenegger declined to reprise the role of Conan. Sorbo was reluctant to redo a character already played, so the character was changed to Kull.
