Edward Tudor-Pole
Biography
Edward Tudor-Pole is an English performer known for music, presenting, and acting. Born in Lambeth, he formed the punk band Tenpole Tudor in 1977 and gained wider notice in The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle (1980), where he appeared as a possible replacement for Johnny Rotten and sang on the soundtrack. The band later signed with Stiff Records and had a Top 10 hit with Swords of a Thousand Men. After the group split in 1982, he moved into screen work, appearing in Sid and Nancy (1986), Absolute Beginners (1986), Drowning by Numbers (1988), and White Hunter Black Heart (1990). He took villainous and character roles in Kull the Conqueror (1997), Les Misérables (1998), Tale of the Mummy (1998), and Quills (2000), and played Spike Milligan in The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004). He also presented The Crystal Maze from 1993 until its 1995 hiatus.
