Douglas Henshall

Douglas Henshall is a Scottish actor from Glasgow who trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and joined the 7:84 company before drawing critical acclaim on stage in Life of Stuff at the Donmar Warehouse in 1993 and American Buffalo at the Young Vic in 1997. He moved between screen and stage, playing T. E. Lawrence in the television series Young Indiana Jones and Edgar in Angels and Insects (1995), with later film roles in Sharpe's Justice (1997), Orphans (1998) and Lawless Heart (2001). He won a gold nymph at the 2000 Monte Carlo TV festival for best actor in a mini-series, became known to television viewers as Professor Nick Cutter in Primeval from 2007 to 2009, and then played Detective Inspector Jimmy Pérez in Shetland, winning Bafta Scotland's best television actor prize in 2016. He also appeared in Dorian Gray (2009) and The Eagle (2011).
