Plot summary
Bert Harris works as a bellboy at a hotel, where he runs money cons on the side. Anne Roberts arrives as a chambermaid, and Bert, taken with her, brings her into the racket. The two of them set up a hotel guest, A. Rupert Johnson Jr., so that he is discovered with Anne in a compromising position; a man posing as a policeman is standing by, and Johnson pays $5,000 to avoid a trip to jail. Bert and Anne leave town for a larger city, where their schemes grow bigger and they cross paths with Dapper Dan Barker and Helen Wilson, con artists like themselves.
