Plot summary
Rowan Moore comes home to the Alaskan wilderness after a prison term, and his brother Beckett has stayed on as a local deputy. The two have barely spoken in years. Their old friend Mary Cadillac hands Rowan provisions and wants him to track down her missing husband, Johnny. Beckett's wife, Michelle, is a wildlife photographer and conservationist who studies the region's bears. Nearby, loggers and hunters have been killed, and a hunter and butcher named Douglas tells the deputy the grizzly responsible is larger and smarter than an ordinary animal. Rowan means to reach the Grizzly Maze to pay his respects to the brothers' father, and Beckett sets out after him with Kaley, Rowan's former girlfriend.
