Plot summary

Olivia Edmonds is a young girl with a beautiful, natural singing voice, though few people know it. She was conceived the night her mother, Rebecca, first met Paul Kerr, a Scottish rock star. The couple fell out of touch, and Paul never learned he had a daughter. When a motorcycle accident is taken for a suicide attempt, Paul is confined to a psychiatric hospital. There he meets Olivia, now sixteen. Rebecca feels Paul betrayed her and that her own musician father failed her, so she does not want Olivia drawn into the world of rock music, which she considers decadent. She tries to keep them apart.
