Plot summary

Toby Nealey is a politically minded twenty-three-year-old who paints graffiti. He enters the properties of wealthy people and leaves the words I CAME BY on their walls, and his newest mark is Sir Hector Blake, a High Court judge he considers a hypocrite for the progressive face he shows in public. Inside Blake's home Toby finds a pottery studio and a man held prisoner. He confides in his friend Jay, once his accomplice in these outings, who is preoccupied with his pregnant girlfriend Naz, and makes an anonymous call to the police; a search of the house turns up nothing. Toby's widowed mother Lizzie, unhappy at his drifting, shouts at him and orders him out.
